Basketball Recap: Kemmerer Takes a Loss

Kemmerer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Manila Mustangs, falling 55-28. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2021.

Manila's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamryn Slaugh, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 20 points along with five boards and three steals. Slaugh has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Sadie Davis was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Kemmerer's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Manila, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

Kemmerer is taking a road trip to face off against Wind River at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Manila, they will host Tabiona at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Manila is on a three-game streak of home wins, Tabiona a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
