Football Recap: Westwood Starts Season with Victory on the Road + How To Watch

Westwood had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Lyndhurst Golden Bears with a sharp 34-14 victory. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Golden Bears are ranked 195th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Lyndhurst saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Cano rushed for 89 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Cano really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

Westwood has already played their next game, a 21-7 win against Pascack Valley on the 5th. As for Lyndhurst, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 24-7 victory against New Milford on the 5th.
