Baseball Recap: Lakin Comes Up Short

Lakin fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Holcomb on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 4-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Broncs in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost nine in a row.

Lakin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Cox, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Lakin's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Holcomb, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Holcomb beat Lakin by a score of 10-2 later that day.
