The Omaha Northwest Huskies will challenge the Adams Central Patriots at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Omaha Northwest is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Benson on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-10 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Huskies as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Jj Schirmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Omaha Northwest's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 1-15 when he doesn't). Schirmer was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Omaha Northwest got a massive performance out of Justyse Masters, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Masters a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DeVon Derry, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.
Omaha Northwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Adams Central never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Twin River with a sharp 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Hunter Nepple was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Nepple was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Nepple wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaron Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Kaleb Wahlmeier, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Adams Central has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Omaha Northwest, their win bumped their record up to 4-15.
