Volleyball Recap: Blue Ridge's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of five wins, Blue Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Western Wayne Wildcats. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

While Blue Ridge ultimately came up short, they really made Western Wayne work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 26-24, 25-17.

Despite the loss, Blue Ridge still got an impressive performance from Bryce Conklin, who had 27 digs and two aces. Conklin has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last six times he's played.

Blue Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Western Wayne, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will square off against Holy Redeemer at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Western Wayne, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Pocono Mountain East at 5:00 p.m.
