The Santa Teresa Desert Warriors will challenge the Grants Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Teresa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.

Santa Teresa will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Deming on Friday. The Desert Warriors were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Wildcats. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 29, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Marcos Rivera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Gavin Garcia was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Santa Teresa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deming only posted a batting average of .214.

Meanwhile, Grants fell victim to Los Lunas and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Tigers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Grants' defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8. As for Santa Teresa, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.
