Volleyball Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

Lakeland lost against Stratford back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Thunderbirds fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. While the Thunderbirds didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-16 in the first set.

Lakeland wouldn't go down easily and took Stratford into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-16, 25-18, 17-25, 15-10.

Stratford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dakota Knetter, who had 19 assists. That's the most assists Knetter has posted over her last eight matchups. Gracie Schmidt also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 19-12. As for Stratford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-10.

Coming up, Lakeland will be playing at home against Ashland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stratford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
