Basketball Game Preview: Midlothian Panthers vs. Kaufman Lions

Midlothian is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Midlothian Heritage just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kaufman, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 43-36 victory over Ennis on Tuesday. Given Kaufman's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Ennis is ranked 1015th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kaufman's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Midlothian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-12.

Midlothian didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Kaufman in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 45-39 victory. Will Midlothian repeat their success, or does Kaufman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
