Softball Recap: Cincinnati Country Day Wins Going Away Against New Miami

Cincinnati Country Day won the last time they faced New Miami and things went their way on Thursday too. The Nighthawks were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Nighthawks, who have now won three games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Riley Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Williams was also big at the plate, going 4-for-6 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kylee Hirschauer was incredible, going 5-for-6 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Jossi Johns was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Cincinnati Country Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cincinnati Country Day pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for New Miami, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cincinnati Country Day will host North College Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Miami, they will face off against National Trail at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blazers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.95 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
