Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Norman North

Norman North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Edmond Santa Fe Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on August 14th.

While Norman North was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Edmond Santa Fe's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-18.

Edmond Santa Fe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elizabeth (EJ) Rice led the charge by getting 21 kills, 11 digs, and three aces. The team also got some help from Kenzie Smith, who had 25 digs and a solo block.

Norman North has now lost 12 of their last 14 games on the road. That leaves them at a 3-6 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-0 Edmond Memorial and 4-0 Edmond Memorial (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.7% over those games). As for Edmond Santa Fe, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-1.

Norman North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Stillwater on the 11th. As for Edmond Santa Fe, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Oklahoma City S on the 11th.
