There's no place like home for Pagosa Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rifle Bears 2-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Pagosa Springs had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-19, 15-10.

Lexi Campbell paced Pagosa Springs' offense, picking up nine kills. Campbell got some help from Hayden Peterson and her 15 assists. Charity Domingo controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Pagosa Springs' victory bumped their record up to 4-17. As for Rifle, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.

Pagosa Springs and Rifle could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Pirates will square off against Glenwood Springs at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (199 vs. 46). Meanwhile, Rifle (ranked 288th) will meet Palisade (ranked 123rd) at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday.
