Football Recap: DuBois Beavers vs. Punxsutawney Chucks

After flying high against General McLane last Saturday, DuBois came back down to earth. The Beavers took a hard 49-35 fall against the Punxsutawney Chucks on Friday. The Beavers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chucks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why DuBois lost, don't look at Trey Wingard. Despite the final result, he threw for 430 yards and four touchdowns.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hayat Muhammad, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Maddox Hetrick had an outrageously good game for Punxsutawney as he rushed for 82 yards and four scores, and also threw for 286 yards and one TD on only 19 passes. The dominant performance also gave Hetrick a new career-high in passer rating (128.7). Another player making a difference was Jordan Rutan, who rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown.

DuBois' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Punxsutawney, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. DuBois will square off against rival Karns City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 892 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Punxsutawney is set to challenge their familiar foe Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
