Softball Recap: East Valley Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

East Valley dropped their record down to 9-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They lost 18-2 to the Deer Park Stags. The game marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Deer Park, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1. Considering they have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Deer Park's part, Mady Ellingson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Ellingson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Deer Park let Kapri Bailey and Sammy Fausti run wild. Bailey went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run, while Fausti went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Bailey has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Lathrop, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, East Valley will take on North Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights are facing the Wolfpack at the right time seeing as the Wolfpack are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Deer Park, they will challenge West Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.07 runs per game on average), something the Stags will no doubt try to take advantage of.
