Softball Recap: Gainesville's Run of Seven Straight Wins Now Over

Gainesville dropped their record down to 17-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Winter Springs Bears, falling 9-3. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.

Gainesville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Lockerman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

As for Winter Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

On Winter Springs' side, Tiffany Seemann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Winter Springs got a massive performance out of Alondra Maldonado, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave Maldonado a new career-high. Abigail Hooper was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

As of now, neither Gainesville nor Winter Springs have any future games scheduled.
