Recap: Murphy Panthers vs. Mobile Christian Leopards
The Murphy Panthers won against the Mobile Christian Leopards last Friday with 62 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Murphy walked away with a 62-54 win over Mobile Christian. Given Murphy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Mobile Christian is ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Murphy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cordairus Dixon, who scored 14 points. Jayden Mangram was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Mobile Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rico Prince jr., who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Michael MJ Moore, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Mobile Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Murphy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Mobile Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.
Murphy will head out on the road to face off against LeFlore at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mobile Christian, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Bryant at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Bryant is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
