Softball Recap: Center Grove Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Center Grove waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Greenwood Woodmen as they made off with a 15-3 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.

Kara Biever looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sydney Herrmann was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mae Munson, who went 4-for-6 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Center Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Center Grove pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Greenwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.

Center Grove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against Franklin Community on the 17th. As for Greenwood, they will host Plainfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Quakers will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something the Woodmen surely won't give up without a fight.
