Basketball Recap: Payton College Prep Takes a Loss

Payton College Prep suffered their biggest defeat since February 1st on Thursday. They came up short against the Dyett Eagles, falling 48-27. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Eagles are ranked 55th).

Leading Dyett to victory were Jaden Mckinnon and Jah'Mir Brown. Mckinnon went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds, while Brown posted seven points. Brown has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Rickey Coleman was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Payton College Prep now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Dyett, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Payton College Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-29 loss against Hillcrest on the 14th. As for Dyett, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-60 win against North Lawndale on the 17th.
