Ava Egolf leads a balanced attack to beat Kokomo

Recap: Tippecanoe Valley Vikings vs. Kokomo Wildkats

The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 41-32 victory over Kokomo. Given Tippecanoe Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Kokomo is ranked 151st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tippecanoe Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Egolf led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Cox, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Aijia Elliott and Regan McClain certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Elliott dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while McClain scored six points along with five rebounds.

Tippecanoe Valley has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Kokomo, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tippecanoe Valley will take on Wawasee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wawasee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday. As for Kokomo, they will be playing at home against Muncie Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Muncie Central has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
