Basketball Recap: Jack Kriebel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lititz Christian over New Covenant Christian

Lititz Christian lost against New Covenant Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lititz Christian Eagles took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Covenant Christian Flames.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Kriebel, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Kriebel's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Federico Cortes, who went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Lititz Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Covenant Christian only racked up nine assists.

New Covenant Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Talan VanderPloog, who posted 16 points and five assists. VanderPloog has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayden Summers, who had 23 points and six rebounds.

Lititz Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for New Covenant Christian, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lititz Christian will venture away from home to take on Mount Calvary Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lititz Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches. As for New Covenant Christian, they will head out to challenge Christian School of York at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Covenant Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
