Baseball Recap: Ames' Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

It was a good run, but Ames unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Dodge Dodgers. The Little Cyclones were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dodgers earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Ames' defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 13-1 and their overall record down to 23-11. As for Fort Dodge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season.

Ames will square off against Ottumwa at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fort Dodge, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-2 win against Storm Lake on the 1st.
