Softball Game Preview: Taylor Wildcats vs. DeLand Bulldogs

The Taylor Wildcats will take on the DeLand Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Taylor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.

Taylor took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Crescent City as they made off with a 17-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Kendall Miller was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacey Price, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact: Taylor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Wildcats are 8-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, DeLand fell victim to University and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 11-0 to the Titans. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Taylor's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for DeLand, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Taylor's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game.
