Soccer Game Preview: Carrboro vs. Louisburg

The Carrboro Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Louisburg Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Louisburg will be up against a hot Carrboro squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Carrboro's defense stepped up to hand South Granville a 9-0 shutout on Monday. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Vikings are ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Louisburg). They blew past Southern School of Energy and Sustainability 9-0 on Wednesday. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 3 goals per game.

They hit Southern School of Energy and Sustainability with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Betsy Mariche (6), Joscelynn Hernandez, Evelynn Hernandez, and Kylie Tucker.

Carrboro pushed their record up to 6-0-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those four matchups. As for Louisburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Everything went Carrboro's way against Louisburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Carrboro made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carrboro since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
