Volleyball Recap: Newman's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Newman lost against De Pere back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Fighting Cardinals took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redbirds. The loss put an end to the Fighting Cardinals' undefeated start to the season.

Camille Sobolewski paced Newman's offense, picking up five kills. Sobolewski got some help from Lexi Rice and her nine assists.

De Pere can attribute much of their success to Mallory Derenne, who had four aces and three assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Newman fell to 2-1. As for De Pere, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coincidentally, Newman and De Pere will both be playing Stevens Point the next time they take the court. The Fighting Cardinals will head out to face the Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Redbirds will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
