Baseball Game Preview: San Clemente Tritons vs. Fullerton Indians

The San Clemente Tritons will be taking part in a tournament against the Fullerton Indians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. San Clemente is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

On Friday, San Clemente beat Beckman 5-1.

Luke Acuna spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

On the hitting side, Cade Cerone and Kaden Raymond did most of the damage at the plate: Cerone went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Raymond got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double. San Clemente is undefeated when Cerone posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Fullerton suffered their closest loss since March 19th on Friday. They fell just short of Tustin by a score of 5-3. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fullerton also got a good showing from Caden Wise, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Fullerton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Robinson, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

San Clemente's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fullerton, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7-1.

San Clemente skirted past Fullerton 2-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Do the Tritons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
