Softball Recap: Madison Central Indians vs. West Washington Senators
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Madison Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the West Washington Senators 11-10. The Indians' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
Madison Central got a great performance from Sydney Smith as she tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Devan Stewart was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Colegrove, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
