Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wood River). They blew past the Minico Spartans 23-6 on Thursday. The Wolverines have beaten the Spartans the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.

Makinzie Nelson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Nelson was even better at the plate, firing off three home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 4-for-4. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last eight times she's played.

In other batting news, Wood River got a massive performance out of Hadley Elsbree, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Marlee McLean was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs and three RBI.
