Basketball Recap: Hurricane Comes Up Short

Hurricane entered their matchup against Pine View on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Hurricane Tigers fell to the Pine View Panthers 66-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (57), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Hurricane still got an impressive performance from Brigham Kemp, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Kemp has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson McCauley, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

Jelani Odjegba continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pine View, going 6 of 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Caleb Schmitt, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 19 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Hurricane and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Pine View, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hurricane will host Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.
