Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Ridge Miners vs. Southern Rams

The Mountain Ridge Miners will take on the Southern Rams on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Mountain Ridge came into this matchup off a tough nine-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Hancock by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The contest marked the Miners' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Southern unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against Frankfort, falling 13-5.

Brayden Upole and Reece Tasker did some serious damage despite the final result: Upole scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Tasker scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Lohr, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain Ridge and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Mountain Ridge suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Southern in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Miners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
