Basketball Recap: Spencerville Takes a Loss

After flying high against Upper Scioto Valley last Monday, Spencerville came back down to earth. The Spencerville Bearcats fell to the Allen East Mustangs 39-34. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 102nd).

Leading Allen East to victory were Evelyn Lehman and Rilynn Jones. Lehman posted 17 points, while Jones put up 16 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Allen East's points.

Spencerville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Allen East, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.

Spencerville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-30 win against Fort Jennings on the 8th. As for Allen East, they have also already played their next game, a 64-39 victory against Botkins on the 8th.
