Basketball Recap: Norfolk Comes Up Short

After flying high against South Sioux City last Saturday, Norfolk came back down to earth. The Panthers took a blow against the Lincoln North Star Navigators on Friday, falling 74-31. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Navigators: they've now lost eight in a row.

Aiden Plasencia was Norfolk's leading scorer, having posted six points.

It was another big night for Easton Switzer, who went 9-for-12 to rack up 22 points for Lincoln North Star. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Castor, who shot 45% from the field en route to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Norfolk's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Lincoln North Star, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Looking ahead, Norfolk will challenge Lincoln High at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' defense better be ready for this one: the Links have averaged an impressive 72.9 points per game this season. As for Lincoln North Star, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-71 victory against Millard West on the 17th.
