Basketball Recap: Unity Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Unity Christian Academy had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it 13. They received a blow as they fell 46-27 to Mount Calvary Christian Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Unity Christian Academy of the 47-37 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Despite the loss, Unity Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Trey Whitehurst, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. Those blocks marked the first that Whitehurst has posted this season.

As for Mount Calvary Christian Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Calvary Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jentzen Wade, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Wade has become a key player for Mount Calvary Christian Academy: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least ten boards, but 1-2 otherwise. Carson Howell was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 16 rebounds.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unity Christian Academy will face off against Terra Ceia Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Mount Calvary Christian Academy, they will challenge Suffolk Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
