Basketball Game Preview: Del Lago Academy Firebirds vs. Tri-City Christian Eagles

The Del Lago Academy Firebirds will take on the Tri-City Christian Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Del Lago Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They snuck past Granite Hills with a 69-65 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Firebirds, who have now won four contests in a row.

Meanwhile, Tri-City Christian waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 79-55 win. The Eagles pushed the score to 61-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Del Lago Academy better keep an eye on Jeramiah Turner. He was instrumental in Tri-City Christian's win, going 8-for-9 on his way to 20 points and six boards. That's the most rebounds Turner has posted since back in January. Donovan Cronkhite was another key player, going 8-for-14 en route to 19 points.

Del Lago Academy pushed their record up to 17-14 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Tri-City Christian, their win bumped their record up to 19-9.

Del Lago Academy skirted past Tri-City Christian 56-53 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Del Lago Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
