Basketball Game Preview: Independence Knights vs. Emerson Mavericks

The Independence Knights and the Emerson Mavericks will compete for holiday cheer at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Independence came up short against Heritage on Friday, falling 63-38. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Coyotes recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, Emerson didn't have too much trouble with Frisco on Friday as they won 37-18.

Emerson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Independence lost to Emerson at home by a decisive 51-32 margin when the teams last played back in February. Can Independence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
