Football Game Preview: Xavier Saints vs. Waterloo East Trojans

The Xavier Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Waterloo East Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Xavier has six straight victories, Waterloo East has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Xavier beats Waterloo East with 42 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Saints put the hurt on Waverly-Shell Rock with a sharp 42-21 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Waterloo East scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They were dealt a 51-21 defeat at the hands of Mason City. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Mohawks are ranked 53rd).

Xavier's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Waterloo East, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
