Recap: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Portsmouth Patriots

The Woonsocket Villa Novans lost against the Portsmouth Patriots back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Woonsocket suffered a rough 69-46 loss at the hands of Portsmouth. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woonsocket in their matchups with Portsmouth: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Woonsocket still got an impressive performance from Aaron Kelly, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jamaury Barr, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.

Woonsocket has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Portsmouth, they pushed their record up to 4-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woonsocket will take on Cranston East at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cranston East is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Portsmouth, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Westerly at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Westerly is ranked 11th, while Portsmouth is ranked 24th).
