Basketball Recap: BigTyme Prep Academy Takes a Loss

BigTyme Prep Academy lost against Pace Academy back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The BigTyme Prep Academy Bears fell 80-71 to the Pace Academy Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Panthers are ranked ninth).

Despite the loss, BigTyme Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from Zion Ibekwe, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 31 points and eight rebounds. Those 31 points gave Ibekwe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dailon Minor, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists.

BigTyme Prep Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Pace Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

BigTyme Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pace Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st.
