Basketball Game Preview: Pella Dutch vs. Newton Cardinals

The Pella Dutch will be taking part in a tournament against the Newton Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Tuesday, Pella blew past Mt. Pleasant, posting a 76-33 win. The Dutch have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newton). They took their contest on Monday with ease, bagging a 97-54 victory over Boone. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-26.

Pella has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points over those games. Newton pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Everything went Pella's way against Newton when the teams last played back in January, as Pella made off with a 72-51 victory. Does Pella have another victory up their sleeve, or will Newton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
