Baseball Game Preview: Pendleton Buckaroos vs. Marist Spartans

The Pendleton Buckaroos will square off against the Marist Spartans on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Pendleton sitting on six straight victories and Marist on nine.

Pendleton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They beat Scappoose by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-2. Considering the Buckaroos have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Marist faced Henley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans skirted past the Hornets 7-5.

Marist pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Pendleton, their win bumped their record up to 22-8.

Pendleton suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Marist in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Buckaroos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
