Basketball Recap: Valle Catholic Comes Up Short

After flying high against North County last Saturday, Valle Catholic came back down to earth. The Valle Catholic Warriors were beaten by the Farmington Knights 76-45 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Knights are ranked 34th).

Farmington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryder Gollaher led the charge by going 5-for-9 en route to 11 points and five rebounds. Gollaher is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last three games he's played. Cannon Roth was another key player, going 6-for-9 on his way to 14 points.

Valle Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Farmington, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Looking ahead, Valle Catholic will square off against North County at 7:30 p.m. on February 19th. As for Farmington, they will face off against Fredericktown at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Farmington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71 points per game this season.
