Alamo Heights is 0-3 against New Braunfels since February of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Alamo Heights Mules will be playing at home against the New Braunfels Unicorns at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Alamo Heights didn't have quite enough to beat Pieper and fell 9-8.
Alamo Heights saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Butler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Butler has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Emily Boyd, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Butler wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Alamo Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for Alamo Heights: they were averaging 4.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.6.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Braunfels, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over Boerne-Champion on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Unicorns considering their two-run performance the game before.
Isabel Cruz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Leos, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
New Braunfels pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Alamo Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
