Grimsley waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Western Guilford Hornets 3-0. The Whirlies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets, too.
Grimsley walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-16, 25-5, 25-16.
Allison Mulry paced Grimsley's offense, picking up 14 kills. Mulry got some help from Elizabeth Gray and her 25 assists. Lucy Shoemaker controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Despite the defeat, Western Guilford saw an underclassman step up: freshman Payton Wood had 15 digs.
Grimsley's victory bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Western Guilford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Smith (ranked 605th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
