Basketball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Mustangs on Friday. Meridian lost 49-27 to Silver Lake. Meridian has struggled against Silver Lake recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Landon Duester was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds for Silver Lake. The dominant performance gave Duester a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Paxton Sorensen, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Silver Lake, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-5.

Looking ahead, Meridian will look to defend their home court on February 21st against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley at 7:30 p.m. Meridian is facing Bruning-Davenport/Shickley at the right time seeing as Bruning-Davenport/Shickley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Silver Lake, they will venture away from home to take on Shelton at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st. Silver Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
