Baseball Game Preview: Grimsley Whirlies vs. Northern Guilford Nighthawks

For the second straight game, Grimsley will face off against Northern Guilford. The Whirlies will face off against the Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Grimsley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Grimsley took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Northern Guilford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Whirlies had just enough and edged out the Nighthawks 4-3 on Tuesday.

Noah Christensen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grimsley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Rainwater, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Grimsley pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northern Guilford, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-6.
