Baseball Recap: Johnston Gets the Win

Johnston came out on top against Rogers on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Vikings. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2022.

Aiden Neil made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Bracey, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Corey Ogden also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Johnston has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Rogers, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnston will welcome Ponaganset at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rogers, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mt. Pleasant at 5:00 p.m.
