Basketball Recap: Ry'darius Hill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Pointe over Lancaster

South Pointe easily dispatched York last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The South Pointe Stallions fell just short of the Lancaster Bruins by a score of 61-58 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Bruins are ranked fourth).

South Pointe lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ry'Darius Hill, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. What's more, he also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Treven Raymon, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, South Pointe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

It was another big night for Jordan Watford, who went 10 for 25 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds for Lancaster. Watford is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 17 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Columbus Parker, who went 5 of 10 to rack up 13 points.

South Pointe's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Lancaster, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

South Pointe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 35-34 loss against Dreher on the 11th. As for Lancaster, they have also already played their next game, an 83-55 victory against Camden on the 11th.
