Football Recap: Skyridge Falcons vs. Riverton Silverwolves
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Skyridge had no problem doing just that on Friday. They secured a 21-17 W over the Riverton Silverwolves. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Leading Skyridge to victory were Kaneal Sweetwyne and Zaeden Selu. Sweetwyne threw for 269 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, while Selu gained 124 total yards and a touchdown. Skyridge also got help from Joshua Hansen, who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Skyridge's defense and their 4.5 sacks. Riverton's QB won't forget Mason Oeser anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Oeser also set a new season high mark in total tackles with 12.
Several Silverwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bennett Neilson, who picked up 139 receiving yards and a touchdown. Neilson's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Skyridge pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Riverton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Skyridge will take on Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Skyridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 32.5 points per game this season. Riverton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
