Game recap: Bishop Guilfoyle High School Football Team defeats Portage

PORTAGE, Pa. - Bishop Guilfoyle (Altoona, Pa.) snapped the eight-game winning streak of Portage (Pa.), with a 42-10 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Brandon Chadbourn touchdown run in the first quarter, the Marauders were up 27-3 at the half.

Bishop Guilfoyle expanded its lead to 39 points entering the fourth quarter. BG scored three times in the third, including once on a punt return touchdown by DJ Kitt.

With the win the Altoona school extended its winning streak to 10 games. Bishop Guilfoyle defeated Penns Manor 25-0 last week.

Portage's only touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Caleb Kephart in the fourth quarter.



The Marauders came into the game allowing 10.4 points per game. The 10 points that the Mustangs ended with were well below their average of 38.6 coming into the game. Portage came in giving up 14.6 points per game this season. PHS struggled against Bishop Guilfoyle's offense, which entered the game scoring 29.3 points per game.

The defeat comes as a step back for Portage, who notched a 49-14 victory over Blairsville in its previous outing.
