Baseball Recap: Shady Spring Extends Winning Streak to Four

Shady Spring had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Independence on Wednesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Patriots. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Sam Barnett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cutter Boggs, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Aiden Calvert was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Boggs wasn't the only one making solid contact: Shady Spring kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for the Tigers: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.4.

Shady Spring's record now sits at 7-8-1. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-1.
