Basketball Game Preview: Unaka Rangers vs. University School Buccaneers

Unaka hasn't had much luck against University School recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Unaka Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the University School Buccaneers at 2:30 p.m. One thing working in Unaka's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.

Last Monday, Unaka didn't have too much trouble with Washburn as they won 75-58. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, University School waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took down the Highlanders 52-37. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Highlanders are ranked 390th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Unaka pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games. As for University School, their record now sits at 18-6.

Unaka suffered a grim 81-56 defeat to University School when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Unaka avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
