Football Recap: Shaw Takes a Loss

Shaw extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were dealt a 44-0 defeat at the hands of the Calhoun City Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Wildcats are ranked 68th).

As for Calhoun City, their win bumped their record up to 4-1. Considering they have won three games by more than 35 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Among those leading the charge was Harland Pittman, who threw for 109 yards and one TD on perfect 5-for-5 passing, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

Shaw has already played their next matchup, a 30-22 loss against South Delta on the 3rd. As for Calhoun City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 50-15 victory against Hamilton on the 3rd.
